IMWM issued meteorological warnings. In southern Poland, the night will bring snowfall and strong gusts of wind. Check where it will be particularly dangerous.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings.
IMWM warnings – heavy snowfall
First degree warnings against heavy snowfall apply to the voivodeship Lesser Polandcounties: Nowy Targ, Tatra, Nowy SÄ…cz, Nowy SÄ…czGorlice.
Snowfall is forecast, causing an increase in snow cover by 10-15 centimeters, locally in Podhale by about 20 cm. The warnings will be valid from midnight on Monday until midnight on Christmas Eve.
IMWM warnings – strong wind
IMWM it also announces a strong wind. The lowest level warnings were issued for the following voivodeships:
- Lesser Polandfor the Gorlice poviat;
- Podkarpackiefor the following counties: Jasło, Krosno, KrosnoLesko, Sanok, Bieszczady.
Forecasters predict winds with an average speed of up to 40 kilometers per hour, with gusts of up to 70 km/h, from the southwest and south.
The warnings will be valid until midnight on Monday.
What are IMWM first degree warnings?
Conditions are expected to favor the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by road traffic, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
