Law and Justice has criticized the government for another day for the situation of flood victims. On Tuesday, MP Mariusz Błaszczak argued that the lack of reservoirs in the Kłodzko Valley is the fault of the Germans and “giving in to the climate religion”. In turn, in 2019, Anna Zalewska, as a representative of the ruling coalition, assured that no more retention reservoirs would be built. Now she accuses the European Commission of their lack.
PiS MP Mariusz Błaszczak has been denouncing Donald Tusk's blame for the floods for the third day in a row. Marek Gróbarczyk, a former minister in the PiS government, also decided to speak out. The politician, although he argued five years ago that additional retention reservoirs in the Kłodzko Valley were “a waste of money”, now complained that they were not there.
– There will be no reservoirs, there will be no flood protection where people live (…), there will be situations where there will be mud, marshes, peat bogs on the main streets – said Gróbarczyk on Telewizja Republika.
Mariusz Błaszczak on Tuesday argued that there are no additional retention reservoirs because of the Germans and the Tusk government. In fact, in 2019 it was Anna Zalewska, who was the Minister of Education, who assured that there are no investment plans for more reservoirs.
Anna Zalewska changed her mind
Anna Zalewska has now decided to speak out in the European Parliament. – In this worst area, in the Kłodzko Valley, more reservoirs would be built if not for the many years of ruthless, total fight, not only political but also ecological, against further investments with the participation of the European Commission – said the PiS MEP.
In 2019, Anna Zalewska explained that only four reservoirs “planned by predecessors” would be implemented.
The MEP accused not only the European Commission. She also considers the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm and MP of the Civic Platform Monika Wielichowska to be to blame for the situation. – At that time, in 2019, the Speaker was at the forefront of the protests in the Kłodzko Valley, but they were so wild, all-encompassing and total – the MEP pointed out.
Today, Anna Zalewska is outraged by the protests and banners against the reservoirs, but in 2019 she was not outraged – quite the opposite. – I am trying to understand where the emotions come from, because first of all, I agree with all the banners. Secondly, there are no investment plans – she said at the time.
