We bring cars to Poland in an increasingly worse condition, which worries experts – writes Monday’s “Puls Biznesu”. The average age of cars imported this year is exactly 13 years. In many cases, cars older than ten years are subject to various types of fraud.
“Puls Biznesu”, referring to the data of the Samar Automotive Market Research Institute (IBRM Samar), indicated that in July almost 67.5 thousand cars were imported to Poland. used cars and delivery vans, i.e. by 7.5 percent. more than in the previous year. – However, the July growth is only seemingly high. It results from very low imports last year. Recall that in July 2022, imports amounted to less than 63,000. cars and was the lowest since Poland’s accession to the European Union, IBRM President Samar Wojciech Drzewiecki told the newspaper.
Rolling back counters, falsifying the year of production or hiding damage
According to the daily, in July this year we imported only 452 cars more than in June, it was the third month in a row with very similar results. “It is worth recalling that the July results in 2015-2020 were on average 20,000 units higher. So far, almost 452.9 thousand cars have come to Poland, of which 414.1 thousand are passenger cars” – it was noted. The newspaper indicated that the average age of cars imported this year is exactly 13 years. The decisive influence on this result is the age of passenger cars, which exceeded 13 years (13.09), and in the case of petrol engines it is getting closer to 14 years (13.93). Among passenger cars, the first place in terms of popularity is occupied by Volkswagen, and in the category of commercial vehicles – Renault. Karolina Topolova, CEO of Auries Holdings, the operator of the international AAA Auto network, told “Puls Biznesu” that in many cases cars older than 10 years are subject to various types of fraud. The most common are: counter rollback, falsification of the production year or hiding damage caused by serious road accidents.
