It wasn't Novak Djokovic's best year. The 24-time Grand Slam winner has not won any ATP or Grand Slam tournament. It was the first such situation since 2005! The Serb reached the Wimbledon finals, but lost there 2:6, 2:6, 6:7 to the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (2nd ATP). Then he lost 6:7, 3:6 in the final to the Italian Jannik Sinner (1st ATP) in the ATP 1000 tournament in Shanghai. Djokovic scored one scalp, but what a scalp! – gold medal of the Olympic Games. In Paris, he defeated Alcaraz in the final 7:6, 7:6.
In Serbia, they are already predicting the end of Djokovic. One photo was enough
A few days ago, Novak Djokovic announced that he would not play in the ATP 1000 tournament in Paris. “Unfortunately, I will not be in Paris this year. I apologize to everyone who was hoping to see me there on the court. I wish a great tournament to all players, sponsors, organizers and fans. I have great memories there, I won seven titles and I hope to return to You next year,” Djokovic wrote on Instagram.
It is still unknown whether Novak Djokovic will play in the ATP Finals, which will be held in Turin on November 10-17. According to Serbian media, his participation in this event is very doubtful.
– Djokovic, judging by the photos that appeared on social media, has moved to the other side of the world, where he looks like he is not too worried about the tournament in Italy. Novak went to the Maldives, where he enjoys the sun – writes “Kurir.rs”.
A photo of Djokovic was posted on Instagram by one of the fans with the caption: Nole in the Maldives – the fan signed.
The following players will definitely play in the ATP Finals: Italian Jannik Sinner (1st ATP), Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (2nd ATP), German Alexander Zverev (3rd ATP) and Russian Daniil Medvedev (4th ATP).
If Djokovic was absent in Turin, the first major tournament he would play in would be the Australian Open.
– Deep down I feel I still have more Grand Slams to win. What drives me to compete is the feeling that I can be a candidate to win these tournaments. Some people think I should retire from tennis when I'm at the very top. They say: you won the Olympic gold, you won everything, say goodbye. And I still like it, so why shouldn't I? For now, I feel like I want to keep playing. I feel sorry for those who want me to leave, because they will have to watch me for some time – said Djokovic a few days ago about his plans for the future.
