This month in Stockholm and the surrounding area there was no day without an explosion and bombing. They are organized mainly by drug gangs as part of criminal accounts or as a method of intimidating ordinary people. Bandits almost openly advertise in social media and recruit children for the foundation of explosives. That is why the Swedish government intends to introduce a law that will allow the police to surveillance of minors.

The Prime Minister of Sweden admitted that his government lost control of the growing wave of violence in the country. A week ago, the detonated explosive destroyed several floors of the apartment block in the Stockholm district, Farstra. As a result of the explosion, two people were injured, including one hard.

– We are in the face of a new wave of violence. It's quite obvious. The number of explosions is growing in principle overnight. Many families wonder if tomorrow evening their gate will be blown up. We share this concern – said Sweden Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Only in the last 29 days from the beginning of January, there have been 32 attacks in the country using bombs or grenades. Mainly around the capital. It wasn't that bad yet.

– In recent months we have observed a sharp increase in violence, which is manifested above all with a large number of explosions. This is partly the result of the conflict between drug gangs – informs Tobias Bergkvist, deputy commander of the regional police in Stockholm.

The services inform that gang fights are growing more and more terror and absolutely enter even the residential areas of the districts. They admit that they lack tools to fight it effectively.

– We will reverse this trend, but reaching where we want will require extremely hard and long -term work – admits Hampus Nygards, deputy head of the Department of National Police Operations in Stockholm.

Recruited mainly by social media

The police estimate that 1,700 people under 18 were operating in criminal networks last year. Juvenile are recruited mainly by social media, and their principals are outside the country.

– We see how 12, 13 and 14-year-olds perform terrifying brutal tasks, as if it were additional work. Tasks are transmitted in a completely open language through online messengers. Crime is often controlled by gangs abroad – indicates Petra Lundh, the National Police Commissioner in Sweden.

Crime increases, especially in districts, which are characterized by a large cluster of immigrants exposed to social disparities.

– These criminal groups or gangs are recruited by people who are immigrants or having such a past. Wanting, not wanting, to some extent it must be combined with migration policy in Sweden – notes Dr. Kinga Dudzińska from the Polish Institute of International Affairs.

The government talks about “internal terrorism”

The situation is unique. The government calls it internal terrorism, which is why law enforcement agencies will have more opportunities. Later this year, the law is to enter into force enabling eavesdropping and reading the content of people, also under 15 years of age.

– The police must be able to use secret tactics, such as eavesdropping even children and adolescents. Today they can't do it. The point is that we can reach clients who are often far away from Sweden. We want this legislation to enter in the autumn of 2025 – says the Prime Minister of Sweden.

The law was to come into force anyway, but only in 2026. The Swedes also want to accelerate with one more change. Like the Denmark, they want to reform the justice system, which will allow you to award a ruthless prison for minors. This is to be a deterrent effect.

– Sweden for a long time neglected the fight against crime, which is why we are now changing politics in this matter and we do it, taking Dania as a role model. It's about providing the police with better tools. Preventive measures must be more effective, penalties more adapted to the importance of crimes – emphasizes Gunnar Strömmer, the Minister of Justice of Sweden.

Fears in Denmark

Sweden cooperates with Denmark, and both countries have an interest in it. The authorities in Copenhagen are afraid that their country will be flooded with a wave of violence from a neighbor. Last fall, TV2 TV reporters arrived in social media announcements, according to which murderers for rent are sought in Denmark.

– This reflects a completely sick, brutal culture of violence that has developed in Sweden, and we do not want it in Denmark – says Peter Hummelgaard, Minister of Justice of Denmark.

The government in Stockholm believes that technological platforms are definitely not enough in this matter, which is why it also asked the European Union for intervention. – Due to the possibilities offered by the Internet and even various applications, the practice has become very international – notes Dr. Kinga Dudzińska.

Earlier through Sweden, especially Stockholm and its surroundings, a wave of killings using firearms rolled. Many random people were killed on the streets. Only in 2023, as a result of shootings in the country, 53 people were killed and over 100 were injured.
