Bulgaria is the country with the most dangerous roads in Europe, according to the latest data from the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC). Car travelers should also exercise particular caution on several other popular holiday routes.
Among the European countries analyzed by the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC), Bulgaria In road accidents proportionally, the largest number of people die. The number of road deaths per million inhabitants reached 82 there last year. The EU average for the same period was just over 45.
The second most dangerous road was Romania – ETSC data indicate. Last year, exactly 1,545 people died in road accidents there, which is 81 deaths per million inhabitants. Next in line were Serbia and Latvia and ex aequo Croatia, Portugal and Greece.

There were also proportionally many fatal accidents last year on Lithuania. Poland closes the top ten with statistics like in Italy. The number of road deaths per million inhabitants reached 52 last year.
Where is the safest place on the roads?
According to ETSC data, the safest place for car travelers was last year Norway. The road accident death rate per million inhabitants was 20, which is more than twice the average of all the countries studied. Next in line were: Sweden, Great BritainDenmark and Switzerland.
