At 11:11, runners took to the streets of Warsaw as part of the Run for Independence. Due to the November 11 march in the capital, traffic disruptions are expected. Aleje Jerozolimskie was closed to vehicular traffic. However, there are no trams running through MarszaĆkowska.
The nationalists’ march will start at 2 p.m. at the Dmowskiego roundabout. Traditionally, its participants will walk along Aleje Jerozolimskie towards the Poniatowski Bridge, from where they will reach the National Stadium Common. The nationalists plan to arrive there around 4:30 p.m.
Police officers from all over the country take part in the security
The first traffic problems related to the march appeared before 10 a.m. “Vehicle traffic has been turned off from Washington Roundabout through Al. Jerozolimskie to Rondo Czterdziestolatka” – informed the capital police on platform X. It was added that pyrotechnic checks will begin along the route.
As informed by the spokesman of the Warsaw Police Headquarters, Sylwester Marczak, November 11 is one of the greatest security measures for the Police Headquarters every year. – Police officers from all over the country take part in securing the Independence Day celebrations. Traditionally, for many years the Chief Commander of the Police has been supporting our forces by directing additional policemen from both the prevention units of individual garrisons, as well as police officers from road traffic departments. These are the areas that are most visible during our activities, he said.
Marczak noted that on Saturday we will see policemen in many places in Warsaw – where the main state ceremonies take place, during large gatherings, such as the Independence March, as well as at railway stations, the subway and the airport. – We do everything to make it safe. These additional forces are important for these large security measures, he added.
