Inspector Mariusz Ciarka, the press spokesman of the Police Commander in Chief, was asked on TVN24 about the course of the Thursday march. – In our opinion, and we secured yesterday – not only in Warsaw – several hundred different types of celebrations, they proceeded safely, without any serious incidents. We have not received a single report or we have not spotted an event that would pose a direct threat to health or life, and this is the most important thing for us – he said.

As he said, even before the march began, the police detained several people “mainly for drug possession”. – There were no people detained in connection with collective disturbance of public order or property damage or other hooligan acts – he stressed.

– Regardless of this legal analysis, which will be carried out jointly with the prosecutor’s office, such acts should not take place. Although I describe the whole ceremony as safe (…), it can already be condemned that it should not take place – he pointed out.

– As far as I can say that such events are morally reprehensible, we must rely on the hallmarks of either a crime or a misdemeanor – he added. – There is no doubt that in the civil and legal area, i.e. the infringement of the goods of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, it definitely took place and in this respect he can take legal steps, while we are still carrying out this legal and criminal analysis – said the spokesman of the Polish Police Headquarters.

“A dangerous situation started to get there”

Inspector Ciarka was also asked about the removal of counter-demonstrators by force by the policewho protested on the route of the march of nationalists. The representative of the Citizens of the Republic of Poland, Wojciech Kinasiewicz, assessed that the policemen were “exceptionally brutal”. – There were cameras directed there, there were people who recorded this incident. At the moment, I have not seen a situation where someone would hurt anyone. I would call this situation evacuation. For us, the most important thing is safety, and one of the first points set out in our regulations is the protection of life and health – he explained.

– That’s where a dangerous situation started to get. People who were there would enter the crowd and try to accost other people. At some point, the reprehensible behavior could escalate, so we decided – only for safety reasons, to protect the lives and health of these people – to evacuate them to a safe place – said the spokesman of the chief police officer on TVN24.
