Increases for pensioners in 2023 will amount to at least PLN 250 gross, said Deputy Minister of Family and Social Policy, Stanisław Szwed. People who receive a pension of up to PLN 1,700 can count on such an increase in benefits. The others will receive higher benefits by 14.8 percent.

The Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, signed a communication on the disability pension indexation index pensions in 2023. The indexation rate will be 114.8%.

How much will be the increase for pensioners?

– The Central Statistical Office published the average wage index last year and we already know that the indexation of pensions and disability pensions in 2023 will be 14.8 percent. We estimated this ratio at 13.8 percent, which is 1 percentage point higher, said Deputy Minister Stanisław Szwed.

As he added, the March valorization will be based on the amount and percentage, and the minimum increase in benefits is PLN 250 gross.

“The minimum old-age pension, disability pension, survivor’s pension and social pension will amount to PLN 1,588.44 gross. All persons who receive a pension up to the amount of approximately PLN 1,700 will receive at least PLN 250 gross increase. Other persons will receive higher benefits by 14.8 percent.” – explained the deputy head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.

Those who receive the highest benefits will benefit the most. Pensioners who now receive a benefit of PLN 2,000 gross (PLN 1,820 net) will receive PLN 269 more. In the case of people who receive a pension of PLN 5,000 gross (PLN 4,250 net), it will be more than twice as much, i.e. PLN 585 net.

Pensions before and after indexation

According to government data, the total cost of indexation in 2023 is approx. PLN 44.15 billion.

Valorization of pensions and disability pensions

Old-age and disability pensions are indexed annually from 1 March. It consists in multiplying the amount of the benefit and the basis for its assessment by the indexation index. It is the average annual price index of consumer goods and services in the previous calendar year, increased by at least 20%. real increase in the average salary in the previous year.

Long-term benefits are subject to indexation: old-age pensions, disability pensions, family pensions, agricultural benefits, teacher compensatory benefits, as well as supplements to these benefits, e.g.

Currently, the minimum old-age pension, disability pension, survivor’s pension and social pension amount to PLN 1,338.44 gross. The pension for partial incapacity for work is PLN 1003.83 gross.
