A passenger train derailed in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India, ANI reported. The state government said at least ten people were killed.
ANI reported that a Rayagada-bound train from Visakhapatnam went off the tracks in Vizianagaram district. Initially, NDTV reported that three people died as a result of the incident, but later the Andhra Pradesh government reported that the number of victims had increased to at least ten.
Local chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ordered immediate relief measures and asked for as many ambulances as possible to be sent from Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli, the closest cities to Vizianagaram. He also issued instructions to coordinate the activities of other services and to take aid as soon as possible.
