The police in Przemyśl (Podkarpackie Voivodeship) detained a 26-year-old woman who demanded money by threatening one of the bank’s employees with a knife. The woman was overpowered by customers and employees of the facility. He is in police custody. The police investigation in this case is underway for armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The incident took place on Tuesday (December 6) in a bank at Mickiewicza Street in Przemyśl. As the junior aspirant Joanna Golisz, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Przemyśl, tells us, around 4 p.m. a young woman entered the facility and, threatening the employee with a knife, demanded money.
The woman was overpowered by witnesses
The attacker was overpowered on the spot by bank employees and bystanders staying on the spot and handed over to the police summoned to the spot. According to Golisz, the detainee is a 26-year-old from a “foreign country”, but the police do not inform from which one. The woman was arrested and placed in police custody. None of the bank’s employees and none of the people staying in the facility at the time were injured, Golisz told us.
The police are investigating the matter
The police officer added that the case is being investigated for robbery with a dangerous weapon.
– On Tuesday, the collected evidence in this case will be handed over to the prosecutor’s office, which will take further steps in this case – Golisz tells us.
Robbery is punishable by two to 12 years in prison. If the perpetrator uses a dangerous tool, he may be imprisoned for a period of not less than three years.
