A passer-by asked city guards to help a man lying on the sidewalk. When they woke him up, he ran away, during which he managed to steal a backpack and T-shirts. He was detained and taken to prison because he was wanted.
After 10 a.m. on Saturday, two city guards from the 1st Local Unit on duty at Plac Pięciu Rogów were approached by a passer-by. He reported that a man was lying in front of one of the tenement houses on Chmielna Street. The officers went to the indicated location to provide him with assistance.
Escape with theft on the way
“The man who woke up, who was drunk, was asked to show documents that he did not have. While giving his details, he suddenly started to walk away towards the department stores and disappeared through the doorway of the store. After a moment, he came out on the other side, where the guards were already waiting for him. During his short stay in the store, the escapee stole a backpack and several T-shirts worth a total of about PLN 600 – which was reported to the guards by a security employee who ran after him from the store,” the Warsaw city guards describe in a press release.
The man was arrested and was already waiting in handcuffs for the police to arrive. It turned out that he was wanted for serving a six-month prison sentence.
