Piotr Zieliński made his debut for Inter on Sunday, when he replaced Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 56th minute of the match against Monza. It was a very good performance from him. “He is a valuable player, he has great quality and is able to give a lot to the team. Although he had problems in the summer, he has already returned to good play. And I am sure he will give us a lot,” said coach Simone Inzaghi after the final whistle.
Inzaghi revealed why he chose Zieliński. “I liked him”
– I don't see him as a 'six' playmaker. We have Hakan Calhangolu and Kristjan Asllani for this position, we feel more than good with them. Zieliński is a central midfielder, he is an 'eight' – added the coach, which worried Polish fans. It was therefore known that the 30-year-old would compete for a place in the team mainly with Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
So far the competition has been too strong. Surprisingly, on Wednesday, Inzaghi decided to give Zieliński a chance to play from the start of the match against Manchester City in the Champions League.Shortly before the match, the Italian decided to explain the decision.
– I liked him in the match against Monza – he said briefly in an interview for Prime Video. This is not the only change in the starting line-up compared to the last match. On the bench game Lautaro Martinez will start, among others.
“Why this line-up? I made certain choices that were inevitable. Lautaro has played a lot recently, he has spent a lot of time travelling. Taremi has not been used as much. If I could use Arnautovic today, I would. He could help us,” explained Inzaghi, referring to the absent Austrian.
– We have to have personality and keep the ball. We know how difficult it is to play in this stadium. If they have the ball, it will be difficult to take it away from them. But we'll see what happens – Inzaghi concluded by briefly assessing his team's chances in the first round of the Champions League.
Manchester City Meeting – Inter The away team will have to be especially careful with Erling Haaland, who is in great form. He has only played four matches in the competition so far. Premier Leagueand scored as many as nine goals in them.
