Technology giant Apple presented new products, including the new iPhone 15. This is in the face of a global decline in smartphone sales and problems on the market in China, Reuters reported.
Apple has announced that the iPhone 15’s satellite connectivity can now be used to summon roadside assistance. This feature is being implemented in cooperation with the American Automobile Association (AAA) in the United States.
New Apple products
The US company added that USB-C charging cables will appear on both the iPhone 15 and the AirPods Pro charging case, allowing the use of the same charging cables already used on iPads and Macs.
Inside will be the same A16 Bionic chip that previously formed the brain of the iPhone 14 Pro. iPhone 15 prices start at $799. and $899 for iPhone 15 Plus – Reuters reported.
The event at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, comes amid ongoing economic uncertainty, especially in Chinathe third-largest market for Apple, which faces challenges from expanded restrictions on the use of iPhones in government offices, and the first new flagship phone in several years from Huawei Technologies, Reuters wrote.
Apple also unveiled the new Series 9 Watch with a feature called “double tap,” in which users tap their thumb and finger together twice, without touching the watch, to perform tasks such as answering phone calls. Apple Watch Ultra 2 has new cycling and diving features and what Apple claims is the brightest screen ever.
CEO Tim Cook also said that Apple is “on track” to ship its Vision Pro mixed reality headset early next year.
Smartphone providers in the world
The iPhone accounted for more than half of Apple’s $394.3 billion in sales last year, Reuters reported.
The analysis by IDC (International Data Corporation) shows that in the second quarter of 2023, 7.8% more fewer calls than last year. A total of 265.3 million units were delivered in the period indicated.
Samsung was in first place in terms of smartphone deliveries in the second quarter – 53.5 million units (20.2 percent of market share), Apple was in second place – 42.5 million (16 percent), Xiaomi was in third place – 33.2 million (12.5%), followed by OPPO – 25.4 million (9.6%) and Transsion – 25.3 million (9.5%). The remaining producers delivered 85.4 million units (32.3%).
