US President Joe Biden has said he expects an Iranian attack “sooner rather than later”. He also assured help for Israel in its possible defense. “Iran will not succeed,” Biden said.

“I don't want to go into classified information, but I expect it will be sooner rather than later,” Biden said, answering questions from reporters after finishing his speech on the civil liberties of Black Americans.

When asked what his message was to Iran, he replied: “Don't do it.” – We are committed to defending Israel. We will support Israel and help Israel defend itself and Iran will not succeed, he assured.

According to senior US administration officials quoted by American media, Washington's services expect an Iranian attack to occur soon. According to CBS News reports, this could happen on Friday, and according to the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg – within 48 hours. Iran would use dozens or even hundreds of drones and missiles. The US fears that the attack may come from Iranian territory, and not – as has been the case so far – through Tehran-backed militias such as the Lebanese Hezbollah, which could lead to a serious escalation.

Axios reports that Iran has warned the US against intervention. In turn, American officials were to press their Israeli counterparts to inform them in advance about a possible counterstrike. According to the Washington Post, the Biden administration was frustrated by the lack of prior information about the Israeli strike on the Iranian diplomatic mission in Syria on April 1, which led to a flare-up of tensions.
