The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps seized two Greek tankers in the Persian Gulf on Friday for “unspecified violations,” IRNA reported. The seizure of oil-transporting tankers is a retaliatory action against Greece for seizing Iranian oil off the country’s coast, assessed the Iranian portal Nour News.

Greece has sent a protest to the Iranian ambassador to Athens against the “force seizure” of Greek ships. The country’s authorities – calling Iran “piracy” – called for the release of the ships and their crews as soon as possible.
