Ireland, Dublin. Three children were among those injured in the incident, which the media described as a knife attack

Five people, including three children, were taken to hospital after a “serious incident” in Dublin, Irish police said. Local media reported that there was a knife attack there.

The incident occurred on Thursday shortly after 1:40 p.m. local time (2:40 p.m. in Poland) at Parnell Square East, in the northern part of Dublin, near O’Connell Street, one of the most important streets in the capital of Ireland.

Irish public broadcaster RTÉ reported that the attacker stabbed the victims. A man, a woman and three small children were injured. Police said the injuries of the girl and the adult woman were serious.

The area around the place where the attack occurred was cordoned off.

Irish Justice Minister Helen McEntee admitted she was “deeply shocked by this horrific attack”.
