Law and Justice does not have a majority in the Sejm, but it has time and even some PiS politicians openly admit it. According to the new majority, this will allow politicians from Jarosław Kaczyński’s party to concretize the institutions.
The sincere and wide smile of Law and Justice MP Marek Asta seems to reveal what even those in Jarosław Kaczyński’s party think about Mateusz Morawiecki’s mission to form a government. – Of course, these chances are not great, but they are always there – said the MP. – We need to give the Prime Minister time to present his proposals – said Bartłomiej Wróblewski, an MP from Law and Justice.
When asked, potential candidates for ministers either remain silent or simply joke. – Every day I receive some proposals – replied Sebastian Kaleta, MP of Sovereign Poland, coalition partner of Law and Justice.
Others, however, admit that it is a fatal mission. – Today, there are many indications that we will not be able to form a government – says Kamil Bortniczuk, an MP from the Republican Party, a coalition partner of Law and Justice.
So the question arises: why argue that Mateusz Morawiecki is forming a government? – People are trying to stuff their own stuff, says KO MP Michał Szczerba.
On Wednesday, councilors of Otwock, ruled by PiS, agreed to sign a contract with the Minister of Culture to run the institute, which will have PLN 100 million to spend within 10 years. – It’s good that there is a local government that is interested in continuing the work – commented Jarosław Sellin, an MP from Law and Justice.
However, the new majority says that this is concrete and money for their own people for the lean years in the opposition. – Public funds should be respected, for which they have no respect – says MP Szczerba.

PiS also hears more and more often that just before handing over power, the Prime Minister will still manage to appoint the chairman of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. For Jarosław Kaczyński’s party, this is a strategic function. Dariusz Standerski from the New Left points out that the Polish Financial Supervision Authority “gives consent to the appointment of bank presidents” and thus PiS will have influence on them.
– This clearly shows what PiS is about: money – says Adam Szłapka, an MP from the Civic Coalition. – It is clear that the camp, which lost the elections resoundingly, is most interested in the seats – adds Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, president of the Polish People’s Party.
Minister Jacek Sasin is creating another fund whose task will be to support the domestic arms industry. Old activists get new contracts, and multi-million grant competitions are in full swing. – They show that they are ruthless and do things that no honest and responsible person would do – commented Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Speaker of the Senate.
The new majority is also talking about drop-ins, because the outgoing government is leaving behind the bill on credit holidays. The Constitutional Tribunal – after weeks without work – suddenly announced a judgment on pensions that will burden the budget. The Tribunal was waiting for a change of power – heard in the New Left. – This Tribunal acted under political dictate – said Krzysztof Śmiszek, an MP from the New Left.
The new majority announces audits and changes to decisions made by PiS in recent days. – Zero tolerance for this theft, fraud, for this impunity, for this money grab – said KO MP Dariusz Joński.
The decision of Otwock councilors, for example, is to be invalidated by the new voivode.
