The Act, unofficially called “Al-Jazeera Law”, was adopted with 70 votes in favour with 10 votes against.

According to the new law, the Minister of Communications may ban a news station from broadcasting, which it considers a threat, and order the closure of its offices in Israel and the confiscation of equipment. It also gives you the option to take a photo of that broadcaster's website if the server is located in Israel; otherwise, access to the website is to be blocked.

According to the adopted law, any order to remove a foreign television station from the air must be submitted to the court within 24 hours, and the court decides within three hours how long the order is to remain in force. The Act states that the order is valid for 45 daysunless the court decides otherwise.

A White House spokesman quoted by Reuters responded to reports about the new law, saying that if it is true that Israel wants to shut down Al-Jazeera, then this is “very disturbing”.

Al-Jazeera is a Qatari station that Israel has been repeatedly accused of manipulating the truth to its advantage Hamasu. This Palestinian terrorist organization attacked Israel on October 7 last year, killing over 1,200 people there and kidnapping over 240 to the Gaza Strip. The invasion started a war between Hamas and Israel that continues to this day.
