Thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv on Saturday to protest against the government. Demonstration participants demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and new parliamentary elections.
“We will not surrender!”, “Evil government!” – chanted protesters in Tel Aviv as they marched through the city center.
Meanwhile Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Saturday evening that the war in Gaza would continue – “until all goals are achieved”, i.e. “the destruction of Hamas, the return of the hostages and ensuring that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel in the future.”
Last year there were mass protests in… Israel against the controversial judicial reform that Netanyahu’s government wanted to implement. After Hamas attacked Israel in early October and the start of the Israeli offensive in Gaza, anti-government protests stopped.
