The Israeli army reached the coast and cut off the northern part of the Gaza Strip and its capital from the rest of the territory, the AFP news agency reported. Earlier, the Israeli military said it had discovered a network of Hamas tunnels, command centers and rocket launchers under hospitals in the area.
Army spokesman Daniel Hagari said the armed forces were attacking from the air, land and sea to create “pressure that will lead to the fall of Hamas.” At the same time, the spokesman added, the army maintains humanitarian corridors to enable the civilian population to evacuate to the south of the Zone. Earlier on Sunday, Hagari said that the Israeli military had discovered a network of Hamas tunnels, command centers and rocket launchers under and adjacent to hospitals in northern Gaza.
“Hamas systematically uses hospitals as part of its war machine,” Hagari told reporters. During a media briefing, Hagari presented videos, photos and audio recordings that he said demonstrate Hamas’s strategy of using hospitals as cover and preventing civilians from leaving combat zones.
He also said that more than 800 rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel during the war did not reach their targets but landed in the Strip, causing significant civilian losses.
Israel has been reporting for a long time that Hamas has located its operations center under Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa. Hagari has now made similar allegations against two other hospitals in northern Gaza – financed by runny nose Sheikh Hamad Hospital and a hospital built by the Indonesians.
Hagari said two videos from a Qatar hospital show an opening leading to Hamas tunnels and Hamas armed terrorists shooting at Israeli soldiers from the hospital. He added that one satellite image shows missile launchers across the street from an Indonesian hospital. – They fire rockets at Israel 75 meters from the hospital. Why? They know exactly that if Israel attacks such a launcher from the air, the hospital will be damaged, he said.
