Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Israeli war cabinet agrees that retaliation is necessary after the Iranian air attack on Israel, Reuters reported, citing Israeli officials. However, politicians differ on the scale of the response and the timing of the retaliatory action.

On Sunday evening, a five-member war cabinet met, in which Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Joaw Galant and Minister Beni Gantz have the decision-making say. The response to the Iranian attack was discussed.

Israeli officials said cabinet members support retaliation against Iran but are divided over the timing and scale of that response.

Iran fired over 300 drones and missiles towards Israel on the night from Saturday to Sunday, 99 percent of which were shot down. Israeli authorities admitted they “cooperated closely” with the US, British and French governments during Iran's attack. The raid was an act of retaliation for the earlier bombing of the Iranian consulate in Syria, which killed high-ranking Iranian officers.
