Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin told Israeli Defense Minister Joav Galant on Saturday that the Jewish state can count on “full U.S. support in defending against attacks by Iran and its affiliated armed organizations.”

Earlier, Galant stated that Israel is “closely monitoring the planned attack” threatened by Iran and its supporters in the region. He added that the United States and other allies have provided Israel with “new capabilities” to defend and respond to a potential Iranian attack, the Times of Israel reported.

“In recent days, we have strengthened our air defense and counterattack system,” Galant said in a statement. – Together with our partners, led by the US, we have added new capabilities on land, in the air, at sea and in the field of intelligence – said the minister, quoted by the portal.

– Iran is a terrorist state, the world is exposed to this risk more than ever. We are determined to protect our citizens (against it) and we will find a way to respond to it, Galant added.

US presidential adviser for national security Jake Sullivan also confirmed Washington's “iron commitment to Israel's security” in a conversation with his Israeli counterpart Tsachim Hanegbi.
