Israeli naval soldiers and reserve commandos decided to take their protest against the controversial judicial reform underwater. With flags and banners, they dived into the depths of the Red Sea off the coast of the city of Eilat.
By Israel mass protests against the reform of the judiciary are taking place. The project of changes in the judiciary assumes, among other things, increasing the government’s control over the election process of Supreme Court judges, as well as the possibility of repealing judgments of this court by a majority of 61 votes in the 120-member Knesset.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday in an address to the nation that it was temporarily puts his government’s plans on a controversial reform of the judiciary on holdto avoid a “civil war”. However, many Israelis declare that, regardless of the head of the government’s words, they intend to maintain the chosen path of opposition until it achieves results in the form of the government’s abandonment of work on the reform.
On March 25, the protesters also joined Israeli pilots and military doctors.
