On Friday, Israel carried out a raid for military purposes near the seaside cities of Latakia and Tartus in western Syria – the Syrian Human Rights Observatory informed. The media reports that a civilian was killed.

Syrian state media reported that as a result of an Israeli attack in the Latakia region a civilian was killed.

The Israeli army announced that “it attacked weapons containing missiles (…), which pose a threat to the freedom of sea navigation, both international and Israeli, in the Latakia region.” The announcement also emphasized that the army “would take action against all threats to Israel and its citizens.”

Israel hit Syria

The Syrian Human Rights Observatory, a non -governmental organization based in Great Britain, which has extensive sources in Syria, announced that “Israeli attacks were aimed at military positions in the regions of Tartus and Latakia.” According to the observatory in the Latakia region, Israeli aviation hit the barracks, where there were powerful explosions.

It was the first Israeli raid in Syria from the beginning of May. Between December 2024, when Islamist rebels overthrew the regime of Bashar Al-Assad, and Maj, Israel conducted dozens of raids for purposes in Syria. Most of the strokes were directed to the arms of the Assada, who had previously belonged to the Assad.

As the DPA agency writes, Israel's bombing of these warehouses aims to prevent them from taking over by jihadists and other forces hostile to Israel.
