On Tuesday, the temperature difference between Piła and Toruń, which are approximately 140 kilometers apart, was almost 14 degrees. We asked Tomasz Wasilewski, presenter of tvnmeteo.pl, about it.

Tuesday is another hot and stormy day in Poland. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management reported that at 5 p.m. thermometers in Piła (Greater Poland Voivodeship) showed only 14.7 degrees Celsius. About 140 kilometers away Toruń (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship) the temperature on thermometers was 28.6 degrees Celsius at that time. Why is there such a big difference in temperature between these cities? There are two reasons.

– At the time of measurement, i.e. at 5 p.m., there was thunder and heavy rain in Piła. Rain naturally lowers the temperature, which made it cooler there – said Tomasz Wasilewski, presenter of tvnmeteo.pl.

Wasilewski added that there was a colder air mass in the Piła area, associated with the passing storm front. It also significantly lowered the temperature.

At the warmest moment of the day temperature in Piła it was 26 degrees Celsius today.
