Borussia Dortmund under the leadership of the duo Nuri Sahin and Łukasz Piszczek, they quickly became out of breath. A week ago it suffered a devastating defeat against VfB Stuttgart 1:5. On Friday, she had the opportunity to redeem herself in a home match against VfL Bochum, which had scored only one point in the first four rounds of this Bundesliga season and was 16th in the table. She almost had a painful mishap again.
Cabaret in Borussia's defense. Strange behavior of the goalkeeper
Game The players from Dortmund started better. Already in the first 15 minutes they created two dangerous situations. First, Karim Adeyemi headed the ball, and then Julian Brandt fired a dangerous shot from the edge of the penalty area. In both cases, however, goalkeeper Patrick Drewes was better. Matus Bero, however, turned out to be more effective. The Slovak made a one-two exchange with Philipp Hofmann, ran into the penalty area and shot loudly towards the near post. In this way, he gave Bochum an unexpected lead 1-0.
It didn't take long for Borussia's defense to capitulate for the second time after a disastrous mistake. Nico Schlotterbeck withdrew to goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, who was completely lost. He got into a dribble with Myron Boadu and stupidly lost the ball. The Dutchman quickly passed the ball to his compatriot Dani de Wit, who shot into the empty net.
There was a close call, and after just over half an hour, Bochum would have been leading 3-0. Boadu was presented with a golden opportunity. He was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but he narrowly missed. Borussia recovered a bit before the break and managed to score a contact goal. Brandt's cross was converted into a goal by Serhou Guirassa, successfully heading the ball into the penalty area.
Borussia's successful chase. This is how they turned the game around
After the change of sides, the hosts started to make up for the losses with considerable enthusiasm. Pascal Gross took a dangerous shot from a distance, but Drewes again scored brilliantly. However, in the 61st minute he had nothing to say. After Felix Passlack's foul on Guirassy, the referee whistled penalty kickand Emre Can took advantage of this with a confident shot into the top corner. Borussia's players were not satisfied with the draw and with just over a quarter of an hour left they took the lead. Karim Adeyemi made a fantastic pass between two defenders and was finished by Guirassy. The striker brought from Stuttgart placed the ball between Drewes' legs and made it 3-2.
However, Borussia did not stop there. In the 80th minute with another rally Adeyemi moved and passed the ball to Felix Nmecha in front of the penalty area. He hit the ground from a distance, and this time the Bochum goalkeeper made a big mistake. He released the ball and it rolled over the line. Thus, Nmecha set the score at 4:2.
Thanks to the victory, Borussia moved to second place in the Bundesliga table. He has 10 points and is only two behind leaders Bayern Munich. However, the Bavarians played one match less. Bochum, in turn, dropped to the penultimate position, 17th. Lower down is Holstein Kiel.
