Nick Kyrgios is a figure in world tennis who is famous for not biting his tongue and often speaking on various social topics. The Australian reacted, among others: after the controversy surrounding the doping scandals of Jannik Sinner and Iga Świątek. – I have not failed any test for the presence of prohibited substances. Once you're caught, you can't act like a victim, Kyrgios said in response to a question about whether he felt like a villain on the tennis tour. It is worth adding that Kyrgios returns to the courts after a nearly two-year break.
“Feeling good with another few days of training behind me. Wrist reconstruction and back here. And all this without failing a doping test. Be proud Kyrgs by doing it the right way,” Kyrgios wrote on social media.
To be more specific: in March this year. Clostebol, which is a prohibited substance, was detected twice in Sinner's system. Sinner appealed the penalty because a member of his team used a cream containing the substance to treat a small wound. Sinner was allowed to play the whole time, and the only penalty was the withdrawal of points and the financial prize for Indian Wells. In Świątek's case, the Polish woman took factory-contaminated melatonin, which resulted in trace amounts of trimetazidine being detected in her body.
“I have nothing against Iga.” Kyrgios spoke again. “This pisses me off”
Kyrgios was recently a guest on the “Nothing Major Podcast”. How did he evaluate the previous season in the face of the controversy surrounding Sinner and Świątek? – Honestly, it's nothing personal. I have nothing against Iga. I just think everyone should have equal opportunities and that pisses me off. Because I know these people, I think they have an advantage because they're just gods, and then they take all these other performance-enhancing drugs. I have never done it and I will never do it, he said.

– When you get caught, you can't act like a victim. This pisses me off even more. Let's be honest, in our sport, if someone can get suspended for two years for going out all night and avoiding someone who is actually trying to improve their performance? This is not even a conversation about which case I think is worse, Kyrgios added. – Then this guy smears his whole body with a cream that gives him some crazy power. It's not fair. That's why I'm angry about it, Kyrgios explained, referring to Sinner's case.
Originally, Kyrgios was supposed to be in one team (Eagles) with Świątek and Hubert Hurkacz in the World Tennis League exhibition tournament, but the organizers decided to change it. Kyrgios and Barbora Krejcikova joined the Kites team, while their places were taken by Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Additionally, Hurkacz resigned from the tournament, and Aleksandr Shevchenko will appear in his place.
