An unusual tourist appeared on Saturday in the town of Ladispoli near Rome. A huge lion named Kimba was walking through the streets there. The animal escaped from the traveling circus “Rony Roller”. The police, forest guards, carabinieri and other services took part in the hunt for the big cat. The management of the circus from which the predator escaped also participated in the action. The animal was on the loose for about seven hours before it was euthanized and placed in a safe place.
Local services are investigating and want to find out how the wild cat managed to get out of the metal enclosure.
– What happened is very strange. All we can say is that the lion is unable to open the latch and break the lock, Rony Vassallo, an animal handler and trainer at the circus, told Reuters.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Mayor Alessandro Grando wrote that he would ask experts to check whether there are legal grounds to revoke the circus’s lion permits.
