The leaders of the neo-fascist group Forza Nuova were among the 12 arrested participants of the demonstration against pandemic restrictions, which took place in Rome. It was restless for hours on the streets of the Italian capital.
On Saturday, it happened in the streets and squares in the center of the Eternal City violent clashes of opponents the so-called Green Pass (sanitary passes) as well as anti-vaccinees with the police. Officers pelted with firecrackers used tear gas and water cannons.
A large group of protesters stormed the headquarters of CGIL, the largest Italian trade union headquarters.
The riots lasted for hours in the streets of the capital.
Among the most aggressive participants arrested is the leader of the neo-fascist Italian organization Forza Nuova Roberto Fiore and the leader of its Roman subsidiary Giuliamo Castellino. Representatives of this formation constantly participate in the protests of anti-vaccines.
Attack on the ambulance
Medical authorities informed Ansa that around 30 demonstrators attacked the emergency room of the Umberto I hospital in Rome on Saturday night. As it was established, it was an attempt to rescue one of the wounded Sicilian demonstrators who had ended up there.
Four people were injured: policemen and ambulance workers; one of the nurses was injured by a glass bottle. Material losses are considerable.
The events in Rome condemned all political forces in the country.
