Members of the Italian coast guard rescued 74 people – they helped two sailboats reach the shore. During the storm, both boats ran aground near the city of Crotone in the southern region of Calabria. The number of migrants coming to Italy is increasing

Italian Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese called on other EU countries to share responsibility for migrants crossing the Mediterranean from North Africa.

This year, more than 54,000 migrants came to Italy. According to data from the Italian Ministry of the Interior, less than 30,000 refugees landed in the Italian mainland last year in the same period.
