The Colosseum in Rome is introducing personalized admission tickets from Wednesday. Sales will be online, at on-site ticket offices and by phone. The management of the monument visited by millions of tourists wants to fight the phenomenon of speculation and selling tickets by “horses”.
To improve ticket sales in the new form, an additional box office will be opened – it was announced.
Personal tickets in the Roman Colosseum
The Italian Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, expressed his satisfaction with the decision regarding the new tickets and said: – This is a fundamental step to free one of the symbols of our historical and cultural heritage from the “horse” phenomenon.
In the case of the Colosseum, especially during periods of intense tourist traffic, it is common to sell admission tickets through intermediaries at significantly inflated prices.
Another new feature will be effective from November 1. After switching to winter time, the Flavian Amphitheater will be open to visitors from 8:30 a.m. instead of 9:00 a.m.
The Moon over the Colosseum initiative, i.e. a special visit from 6 to 10 p.m., has been extended until the end of the year.
