Who will replace Daniel Craig as James Bond? “Let’s give Daniel time to celebrate,” said Barbara Broccoli, co-producer of one of the world’s most famous film series. She repeated that Bond would not be played by a woman.
“It’s not time to die” – the 25th edition of the adventure James Bond – will hit theaters by the end of the week. A ceremonial world premiere with the participation of the creators will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on September 28. For the fifth and final time, the main character is played by Daniel Craig.
Who will be the next James Bond?
The day before the premiere, the producers of the series Barbara Broccoli and her stepbrother Michael G. Wilson appeared on the popular British show “Today” on BBC Radio 4. In an interview, they were asked if they had already decided who could replace Craig after 15 years in the series.
– By God, no. We don’t think about it at all. We want to give Daniel time to celebrate. We will start thinking about the future in 2022 – said Broccoli. Wilson added that Craig was a great Bond that would be hard to replace, if at all possible.
Broccoli said producers were lucky enough to get Craig to join “Casino Royal” in 2006 and take over Agent 007 from Piers Brosnan.
“We saw that he was very reluctant (to play Bond – ed) because he knew his life would change, which of course did. His life changed, but it didn’t change him,” said Broccoli. “In the series, it allowed us to delve into the life of the emotional Bond and enter him, comprehensively covering the conflicts that took place in this character,” she added.
“Don’t Time To Die” – a list of Bond favorites
“Variety” recalls that William Hill’s bookmaker has provided a list of predicted favorites for the role of Bond in the next film. They are Tom Hardy, Regé-Jean Page, James Norton, Luke Evans, Idris Elba, and Henry Cavill. Although Broccoli has repeatedly stated that Bond’s character is male and will be played by men, bookmakers point out that Suranne Jones is the favorite among the actresses.
When asked whether Amazon’s planned takeover of MGM would somehow affect the Bond series, Broccoli replied evasively. “We’ll be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Bond franchise next year, so we can’t wait for a new chapter, whatever it brings,” she said. “Now we want to enjoy No Time To Die and Daniel’s outstanding achievements,” she added.
“It’s not time to die” – premiere
On the guest list of Tuesday’s world premiere of “Nie czas Dyać” were, among others Prince Charles of Wales with the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla and Prince Cambridge William with the Duchess of Cambridge Catherine. Representatives of the medical professions were also invited to the ceremonial evening. It’s a way of honoring them for the effort that healthcare professionals put in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
The premiere – according to Reuters – will be an opportunity to raise funds for charity organizations supporting current and former employees of British special and intelligence services.
On the same day, a special screening will be held at the Zurich International Film Festival. On October 1, “Nie Czas dyać” will be released in Polish cinemas.
