The player himself revealed that it was quite a shock for him. – When you are 24 and you play sports all your life, it would be crazy to think that you could have cancer. You only think that at most it might be a stomach ulcer – he said. Now his life looks completely different than before. – Most days go very well, but there are a lot of changes. Before I got sick, my life was routine – he added. He also noted that despite undergoing chemotherapy, he feels quite well and is still training.
In order to support their teammate, the other players decided to make an unusual gesture. A video surfaced on Monday showing the players and the coaching staff… shaving their heads. Then Herman entered the changing room and couldn't hold back his tears when he saw all his teammates. “This is a great team,” he said. The video literally spread all over the internet. On portal X alone, the duplicated video has already gathered over 6 million views. This has allowed them to raise as much as 150 thousand euros, which will be used for the player's treatment.
Herman emphasized that initially he could not come to terms with the fatal diagnosis. – It is known that the beginnings were difficult for both me and my family. It is not easy to see loved ones who are sad because of you. However, I received the support I needed very quickly. I received a lot of love, so I feel very grateful for that. I have the best family in the world – he said.
Finally, he revealed his plan for the coming months. – At the moment, I'm coping with it all very well. I have an appointment at the best clinic in Sweden. I'm going there with optimism. We'll see how the chemotherapy works. I'll work hard to help defeat the disease. Thank you for being in such a good environment. You don't even know how much strength I draw from it. It's incredibly important for someone like me, a simple guy – he concluded.
