The arrangements for the sale of the prime minister’s wife’s plot for almost PLN 15 million were commented on in “Fakty po Faktach” by Adrian Zandberg from the Together party. – I do not understand why such maneuvers and an attempt to allocate this money in such a way that it does not have to be shown to voters – he said. – I can say one thing – everyone should be equal before the law and everyone should be treated equally, assessed and should apply the same and the highest standards – said Tomasz Latos, PiS MP.
TVN24 and tvn24.pl agreed that the wife of the prime minister Iwona Morawiecka earned over PLN 14 million on the sale of plots in Wrocław, which they bought with her husband in 2002 for PLN 700,000. The property was bought for PLN 14.9 million by a company established 10 months before the transaction.
On Monday evening, the guests of “Fakty po Faktach” were asked about the matter. – We all know that Prime Minister (Mateusz) Morawiecki, before becoming Prime Minister, was a banker and earned enormous money, millions of zlotys. I do not understand at all why such maneuvers and an attempt to allocate this money in such a way that it does not have to be shown to voters – said in “Fakty po Faktach” the Left MP Adrian Zandberg (Together party).
– I do not know if the prime minister is ashamed that he and his wife have this money? This is, in my opinion, quite frivolous and does not serve the authority of the state, he added.
At the end of November, the Constitutional Tribunal ruled that the act on disclosure of the property of the families of the most important state officials, adopted in autumn 2019, was unconstitutional.
MP Tomasz Latos (PiS) said that he did not know the case. – I can say one thing – everyone should be equal before the law and everyone should be treated and assessed equally and should apply the same and the highest standards – he added.
Circumstances for the purchase of plots
In May 2019, “Gazeta Wyborcza” revealed in the text “How Morawiecki took possession of church lands” that the property, which, as part of the Church’s settlements with the state, in 1999 became the property of the Wrocław parish st. Elizabeth, a few years later became part of the Morawiecki estate.
In 2002, they bought 15 hectares of land from this parish for 700 thousand zlotys. PLN, although – as “GW” wrote – “it is several times less than the real value of the land, which is PLN 4 million”, because the authorities of Wrocław have planned investments in these areas and “the center of today’s prime minister’s plot is to run a fast-track route”.
“Wyborcza” also quoted the testimony given by Morawiecki to the prosecutor’s office. The investigation concerned officials from the Agricultural Property Agency who handed over plots of land to the Church. It was the expert appointed in its course in 1999 “estimated the value of the land purchased by the later prime minister at nearly PLN 4 million”.
