Izabela Leszczyna from the Civic Coalition, when asked in the “Women’s Choice” podcast on TVN24 about the state of Polish finances, admitted that “they do not resemble what we left Poland with in 2015 after the government of the PO and PSL coalition.”
The MP drew attention to three indicators. – When we gave Poland back PiS, economic growth was almost 4 percent of GDP, and today it is zero. The deficit was then 2.6 percent of GDP, and today it is 6 percent. Investments then amounted to over 20 percent of GDP, today they amount to about 16 percent, she said. – This shows the scale of the lack of skills in managing public finances and the economy – she said.

Izabela Leszczyna assured that despite the high deficit after the PiS government, the promise of introducing a tax-free amount of PLN 60,000 will be fulfilled. The MP stated that there would also be a significant pay raise for teachers, reimbursement of in vitro fertilization from the state budget, the so-called granny allowance and the retention of the 800 plus program.

When asked whether the new coalition was planning to amend the budget, she replied that “You can only prepare a budget based on dozens or even hundreds of officials in the Ministry of Finance and on the full knowledge they have.” – It is impossible to work on the budget without being a government – she explained.
– It depends on the president. The later the government is formed, the less time there will be for possible changes in the budget that is before the Sejm. If this government is formed quite late, we may be forced to adopt the budget as it is and only then will we start working on the amendment, she said.
