The decision regarding the Polish electric car Jizera will be made by April – said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy. She added that a renegotiation package for the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO) will be prepared by the end of February.

The Minister of Funds announced at a press conference on Friday that Izera “as such” is not included in the KPO.

– There are funds allocated for non-emission means of transport. A very important investment decision is before the Polish state and this government, whether we invest in the so-called Polish electric car Izera, whether we invest in other possibilities. There are such possibilities. We have bus factories, e.g. electric ones, and companies that can produce electric bicycles. It is possible to invest in charging networks, said Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.

She pointed to the problem of the contribution of foreign technology to the designed car.

– This is a dilemma: do we want a car that is Polish in a small part and Chinese technology in a large part, but we still have a factory in Poland, which is some kind of development impulse. Or maybe we don’t want Chinese technologies because we perceive it as a threat. But at the same time, there is a risk that such technologies may be accepted by another EU country and such a factory will be located elsewhere and Poles will buy them, she added.

When asked about the perspective of the decision regarding Izera, she indicated that such a decision must be made in April.

She added that the KPO renegotiation package would be ready by the end of February.
