Jacek Kurski meets with a huge surplus all requirements for persons representing Poland, the Polish world of finance in international institutions. He could have held much higher positions. It meets all the criteria, said the President of the National Bank of Poland, Adam Glapiński, during a press conference on Thursday. He added that “Kurski knows finance and economics.”

The National Bank of Poland announced on Wednesdaythat Jacek Kurski – former president of state television – started working as Alternate Executive Director of the Swiss-Polish constituent assembly at the World Bank Group in Washington.

The central bank announced that its candidacy was proposed by the President of the National Bank of Poland, Adam Glapiński, as the Governor of the Republic of Poland at the World Bank. In the position that Kurski will take, the salary amounts to over PLN 1 million per year.

NBP about Kurski’s new job

“In December this year, Mr Jacek Kurski started working as Alternate Executive Director of the Swiss-Polish Constituent Assembly in the World Bank Group in Washington, the central bank informed on its website. Switzerland the Swiss-Polish constituent assembly consists of: AzerbaijanKazakhstan, KyrgyzstanSerbia, TajikistanTurkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

“Mr. Jacek Kurski’s candidacy for the position of Alternate Executive Director was proposed by the President of the NBP as the Governor of the Republic of Poland in the World Bank” – explained the NBP.

Kurski confirms

Kurski confirmed on Twitter that he had taken a job as an alternate executive director at the World Bank, consistent with his education and managerial experience. He admitted that he was aware that this meant giving up some public activity or political ambitions. “I always thought that there is no life outside of politics. Well, it is. I know that I will serve Poland well here too,” he wrote.

NBP indicated in the communiqué that Jacek Kurski is an economist, he graduated from foreign trade at the University of Gdańsk. “He has extensive experience in the public sector at all levels: local government, legislative, governmental and international. He was involved, both as a manager and a member of supervisory authorities, in such areas as: regional development, finance, infrastructure and environmental protection ” – it was reported.

NBP did not mention in the statement that Jacek Kurski was the head of TVP.
