Brazilian therapists taught the six -month -old Jaguar of the predator instinct. The young animal was stolen to the mother by one of the inhabitants of the state of Roraim in the north of the country. According to experts, complete therapy will be time consuming and can take up to two years.
The six -month Jaguar was taken over by the police on one of the private properties in the state of Roraim, in the north of Brazil. According to the services, the animal was stolen to the mother by one of the residents and was held on a chain. The management of the center cited by GLOBO television in Brasilia explained that the released Jaguar did not have hunting instinct because he was raised like a pet.
Currently, the animal of several months is under the care of therapists from the center run by the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama). As conveying, in just one month of stay in this place with Jaguar “wild habits were awakened” and the animal learned to look for food on its own.
Time -consuming therapy
During the rehabilitation of Jaguar, conducted in taguating, in the western part of the Brasilia agglomeration, therapists stimulate hunting behavior in the animal. They claim that the predator quickly gains weight and in the month of stay in the center gained 15 kg. However, returning to full health can take up to two years.
The therapists, however, emphasize the need for permanent treatment of the trauma of a predator, adding that the man who tried to domesticate Jaguar, abused him physically and mentally. Therefore, returning to the natural environment is still in question. In the event that the therapy has not been effective, Ibama announces a referral of an animal to one of the zoos.
