The spokesman of the Civic Platform, Jan Grabiec, was elected the new head of the Mazovian party structures. More than 90 percent of the activists voted “for”. Unchanged at the head of the Warsaw Civic Platform – Marcin Kierwiński, the party’s secretary general, remains in his position.

On Saturday, elections of the new party authorities took place all over Poland – the chairman, and, among others, heads of poviat and regional structures of the Platform. Voting was general. They were organized on the model of state elections – ballot boxes were placed in the local offices of the Civic Platform, to which members of the grouping could cast their votes.

Jan Grabiec is the only candidate in Mazovia

In Mazovia, the only candidate for the head of the region was Jan Grabiec, PO spokesman from Legionowo. According to the election protocol that PAP got to know, 1,624 activists (93.7%) voted for his election, against 109.

At first, Andrzej Halicki, the former chairman of the Civic Platform in Mazovia, also proposed his candidacy, but this week he withdrew from running in the elections and supported Grabiec. He is to become one of the deputy heads of the Mazovian Platform.

The Civic Platform will be chaired by the secretary general of the Civic Platform, Marcin Kierwiński, as before.

On Saturday, President Donald Tusk, who is running for party leader, was backed by 97.3 percent. Platform members. The voter turnout was 73.3 percent.
