Unfortunately, such an internal policy towards the armed forces will lead to a tragedy. (…) Such misunderstandings that occur between our society on a daily basis will take place in the armed forces – said the pilot, reserve general Jan Rajchel, expert of the Stratpoints Foundation, professor at the University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in Siedlce, in “Fakty po Faktach”, candidate in the elections to the Senate under the Senate pact, commenting on the speech of PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński against the backdrop of soldiers during a military picnic in Uniejów.

President of Law and Justice Jaroslaw Kaczynski took part in a military picnic in Uniejów on Monday, August 14, where, standing in front of the soldiers, he stated, among other things, that the leader of the Civic Platform Donald Tusk it’s pure evil. – Tusk is the personification of evil in Poland. This is pure evil, said Kaczyński.

Rajchel: Military men feel terrible at such moments

– This is one of the reasons why I decided to start this year elections to the Senate on the side of the Senate pact, representing the Civic Coalition – said an experienced pilot, reserve general Jan Rajchel, expert of the Stratpoints Foundation, professor at the University of Natural Sciences and Humanities in Siedlce in “Fakty po Faktach”.

He added that the military at such moments “feel terrible.” – I have never been in such a situation, although due to the positions I have held, I have always dealt with politicians – he said. – There never was such a thing. Imagine that as our society is divided, so are the armed forces politically divided, he continued.

– We will lead to a tragedy. Unfortunately, such an internal policy towards the armed forces will lead to a tragedy. (…) Such misunderstandings that occur between our society on a daily basis will take place in the armed forces. This cannot be avoided. If politics are involved in the functioning of the armed forces, such misunderstandings will occur at lower levels, he assessed.

Rajchel: There is a political struggle at the highest levels around the army

At the end of April in Zamość near Bydgoszcz a bystander found the remains of an “unidentified military facility”. As it turned out later, these were the remains of a rocket that fell there on December 16, 2022. Head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczakas well as Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, claim that they only learned about the rocket when its remains were found.

On May 11, the head of the Ministry of National Defense stated that “procedures and response mechanisms in the case of the object found near Bydgoszcz worked properly up to the level of the operational commander.” He accused Gen. Tomasz Piotrowski, the operational commander of the Polish Armed Forces, of not informing him or the relevant services about the missile that entered Polish airspace.

The BBN stated a day later that the information at the disposal of the president “does not justify making personnel decisions” regarding the highest commanding staff of the Polish Army, and the president has not been presented with any request in this matter.

– Here we come to another problem, that the highest positions in our armed forces are filled also according to political preferences. The Chancellery of the President has a big influence on this, it has a big influence on it Ministry of National Defence. If a minister cooperates with someone who does not suit him, sometimes he does not have the power not to cooperate with this soldier – commented Rajchel.

– So it seems to me that, unfortunately, this is also a political struggle, but at the highest levels. But in this situation, I don’t know how the military feel about it. It works just like any other company. If a superior accuses one of his subordinates of incompetence, and the opposite is true, how are employees supposed to feel? This is an unacceptable situation, he added.
