Janów. Accident on an unlit section of road. Pedestrian hit by car dies

The police are explaining the circumstances of the accident that took place in Janów (Lubelskie Voivodeship). An 81-year-old man was hit by a car while crossing the road. The man died in the hospital. According to the police, he was crossing the road in an unauthorized, unlit place and did not have reflective elements.

The accident took place on Monday (January 16) in the evening in an undeveloped area on an unlit section of the groga in Janów on the national road number 12.

– According to the preliminary findings of the police officers, a 42-year-old woman from the Lublin district, driving a Subaru, hit an 81-year-old resident of the Chełm commune who was crossing the road outside the pedestrian crossing. The pedestrian did not have reflective elements – informed Commissioner Ewa Czyż, press officer of the police in Chełm.

The injured man was transported to the hospital where, despite the efforts of doctors, he died on Tuesday (17 January) in the morning.

A breathalyzer test showed that the driver was sober. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified by the Chełm police.
