The hater on duty beats his chest. Janusz Kowalski from Law and Justice once attacked the opposition without any indifference, and today he apologizes for the past eight years and admits that when his camp was in power, it made many mistakes.

– We made many mistakes. We did not always listen to good advice from the opposition – admitted Janusz Kowalski, Law and Justice MP. In October 2023, he said: “The pro-German Civic Platform will not return to power.”

– I would like to apologize for how often we treated the opposition at that time badly – said Janusz Kowalski this week. – Donald Tusk is evil – said Janusz Kowalski not so long ago. Such treatment of the opposition at that time was evil, says Kowalski now, and apologizes to the current ruling coalition.

– I remember how we were treated during parliamentary inspections, how we were deceived, how our image was presented in the so-called public media – says Michał Szczerba, MEP of the Civic Coalition, who does not accept the apology.

– Now it's time for the next Law and Justice politicians to also say “sorry, we will listen to the opposition when we return to power” – comments Left MP Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic.

Law and Justice had full power for eight years. The archive of “Fakty” TVN is full of examples of how the government listened to the opposition – this consisted, for example, of turning off the microphone of the parliamentary rostrum. Meanwhile, from the same parliamentary rostrum, ruthless accusations were made against opposition politicians.

“You have blood on your hands”, “you are scoundrels”, “you are criminals”, “I knew that Putin's agents were here, but not because they were so numerous” – these are just some of the statements made by the chairman of Law and Justice, Jarosław Kaczyński.

How did the opposition's submissions to the Speaker of the Sejm end? “Vote without discussion”, “we are not having a discussion”, “closing the discussion” – these words were often heard from the mouth of Marek Kuchciński, then Speaker of the Sejm.

“There will be no end to the settlement, I guarantee him that”

Today Janusz Kowalski announces that if Law and Justice returns to power, they will listen to the opposition.

– MP Janusz Kowalski is able to say anything and make any decision, just to be present in the broadly understood public opinion – comments Professor Szymon Ossowski, political scientist from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

– Kowalski, who ran after Donald Tusk many years ago with a bouquet, will clearly run after Donald Tusk with a bouquet during the September session and ask for forgiveness – says Konrad Frysztak, PO MP.

– The drive against Donald Tusk and the hate speech is over, but the settling of accounts will not end, and I guarantee him that – says Michał Szczerba.

During the rule of Law and Justice, Janusz Kowalski was the deputy minister of state assets, i.e. Jacek Sasin's deputy. Does Jacek Sasin also intend to apologize? – The opposition? We certainly have nothing to apologize to the opposition for – says Jacek Sasin, a member of parliament for Law and Justice.

Janusz Kowalski is currently on vacation. He didn't find time to talk to us.
