Janusz Palikot's defense attorney, Andrzej Malicki, informed in an interview with TVN24 that his client will remain in custody. Palikot's family and friends did not raise two million zlotys to pay the surety that would allow the entrepreneur to be released.
The Palikot family failed to pay the PLN 2 million bail on time. The deadline was Thursday, December 26. The politician's defense attorney, attorney Andrzej Malicki, submitted further motions in this case.
– Janusz Palikot he remains in custody for now. Family and friends did not collect the required amount of PLN 2 million. As they previously declared, the amount they managed to collect yesterday was one million three hundred and fifty thousand zlotys – reported TVN24 reporter MaÅ‚gorzata Marczok. As she stated, there were attempts to, firstly, reduce the deposit, and secondly, to extend the payment deadline.
On December 18, the District Court in Wrocław, considering the appeal of Palikot's defense to extend the pre-trial detention of the former MP until January 1, decided that he could be released from detention after paying PLN 2 million bail. The court set the deadline for paying the bail by December 26.
