Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski stated that in the coming days he intends to present information about his work in the European Commission to PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński. The politician also sees no grounds for resigning.
On Saturday, EU Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski spoke remotely to a group of correspondents in Brussels. He said that he felt he was fulfilling his mandate properly and that there was a lack of information about his activities in Poland.
Kaczyński was supposed to call Wojciechowski. “I don’t know, I didn’t check”
Journalists in the Sejm asked the president on Friday PIS Jarosław Kaczyński, whether he is satisfied with the work of Janusz Wojciechowski, who has been the EU Commissioner for Agriculture since 2019. – I think that the commissioner – and I will call him today because I cannot do otherwise – asked for this: he should finish his mission – said Kaczyński.
– But whether he will finish it, I simply don’t know, because I have no influence on whether he is a commissioner or not. This is solely his decision, but due to these very unfortunate statements, he should end his mission – he added. He did not indicate which of the commissioner’s statements he was referring to.
Wojciechowski, asked on Friday afternoon by a TVN24 reporter whether the PiS president had called him, replied that he “didn’t know, he didn’t check.” He added that Kaczyński’s knowledge about the problems in agriculture “is not complete.”
In Poland – as before in many other EU countries – a large farmers’ protest has been taking place since Friday. Yesterday, thousands of tractors hit the roads in over 250 places in the country, obstructing traffic.
