As a result of the element, a 60-year-old man died. His body was found by a rescue team in a sunken car, a city official in Toyohashi, Aichi Department, told AFP. The search for three missing persons is underway. Thirty people were injured in the downpours, six of them seriously.

A tropical storm left about 7,000 households without power in eastern and western parts of Japan. Work is underway to restore power, the industry ministry said on Saturday. Nearly 1.3 million people have been advised to evacuate, authorities said.

Although the typhoon has bypassed Japan and is passing over the sea, forecasters warn that it is still bringing heavy rainfall along with warm and humid air. In some parts of the country, they may be record high.
