Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki asked President Andrzej Duda to dismiss Jarosław Gowin from the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development, Labor and Technology – said the government spokesman Piotr Mueller at the afternoon press conference.
JAROSŁAW GOWIN WILL BE THE GUEST OF A SPECIAL ISSUE “KROPKI NAD I” ON TVN24 ON WEDNESDAY AT 8 PM
On Tuesday after 6 p.m. at a press conference, government spokesman Piotr Mueller said that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki asked President Andrzej Duda to dismiss Jarosław Gowin from the function of deputy prime minister and minister of development, labor and technology.
– The effectiveness of the United Right government depends on it and is possible thanks to the joint hard work of the entire United Right – both Law and Justice and all coalition partners who have signed a coalition agreement and those who support the United Right government – said the government spokesman.
– The response to the crisis related to the epidemic was and still is the Polish Order, i.e. a comprehensive program of socio-economic changes under which all leaders of the United Right were jointly signed in May – he added.
Błażej Spychalski: changes in the government without undue delay
“The Prime Minister is the disposer of the composition of the Council of Ministers, according to the Polish constitution, the president makes changes in the government at the request of the prime minister. Of course, such changes that the prime minister asks for will be made, the Chancellery will inform about when it happens,” the Polish Agency said Press Błażej Spychalski, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.
He noted that “it will be without undue delay, as is usually the case with such applications”.
Mueller on Gowin’s “unreliable actions”
Mueller recalled that the leader of the Alliance, Jarosław Gowin, also signed the Polish Order. He recalled that at the time of signing the coalition agreement, the Agreement had 20 parliamentarians, and today it has fewer.
The government spokesman added that it was Jarosław Gowin and the members of the Covenant who worked “insufficiently pace on the projects included in the Polish Lada and took unreliable measures regarding tax reform”.
Due to the indicated doubts, the prime minister – as Mueller added – decided to dismiss Jarosław Gowin. – Due to all these premises, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki asked President Andrzej Duda today to dismiss Jarosław Gowin from the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Development, Labor and Technology – said the government spokesman.
Mueller: Prime Minister will take over Gowin’s duties
According to the Act on the Council of Ministers, in the event of dismissal of someone from the function of minister, his duties are performed by the prime minister – said government spokesman Piotr Mueller, when asked if someone would replace the deputy prime minister and minister of development, labor and technology Jarosław Gowin in the government.
Government spokesman: we invite all deputies who want to build the Polish Deal to cooperate
At the same time, Mueller encouraged the cooperation of the members of the Covenant who want to continue building the program of the United Right. – All Members who want to build this program with us, regardless of political colors, but above all those who are in the United Right, are still invited to continue this work – emphasized Mueller.
He added that the deputies will “decide on their own” whether they decide to continue the implementation of “a very important plan, which is the Polish Deal”.
Mueller: I have no conviction that we will lose the majority
He assessed that the failure to comply with the coalition agreement was the fact that, despite the signing of a joint program agreement in May, Gowin contested it a few months later. He stressed that this could not be agreed.
When asked whether the option of early elections was being considered in this situation, the government spokesman said: – I am not convinced that we will lose the majority because of this, I am convinced that there will be people within the United Right and the rest of the Polish parliament who will support the favorable reforms we have proposed.
Jan Strzeżek leaves the club of PiS councilors
The Vice-Ombudsman of the Covenant, Jan Strzeżek, responding to the words of the government spokesman, said in social media that he was leaving the club of PiS councilors. He is a councilor of the Bielany District Council in Warsaw.
“I am leaving the PiS Councilors Club. I entered the local government as a representative of the Jarosław Gowin Alliance. Due to the current events, I cannot imagine further cooperation within the PiS Club” – he wrote on Twitter.
Dispute between PiS and the Agreement
On Saturday it took place meeting of the Board of the Agreement by Jarosław Gowin. The meeting was convened in connection with the resignation of Anna Kornecka, a member of this party, from the function of deputy minister of development, labor and technology. The prime minister dismissed her from her post shortly after she criticized the assumptions of the Polish Order, the announced social and economic program of PiS on TVN24. The official reason was the slow pace of work of the deputy minister.
After the talks, the board of the Covenant stated: “We will not support tax changes, changes in the financing of local governments and changes in the media law without taking into account our demands. We make our staying in the United Right dependent on this.”
Differences of opinion on lex anti-TVN
Differences regarding the assumptions of the Polish Order are not the only points of contention between the PiS-Agreement. The second bone of contention is the attitude towards the lex anti-TVN bill.
The agreement announced that it would not support the project as it stands. Jarosław Gowin’s party proposed amendments which make voting in favor of the bill conditional. Without a Law and Justice Agreement, it may not have a majority to vote its legislative proposals.
