On Saturday, PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński announced the next stage of changes in the judiciary, including the structures of the judiciary. Could this be related to the verification of judges? – It is difficult for me to say, having no drafts, what exactly will be in these reforms – stated Senator Jan Maria Jackowski (PiS club) in “Fakty po Faktach”. MP Izabela Leszczyna (Civic Coalition) assessed that “if Kaczyński pushes for the reform he has announced, the chaos in the courts will only deepen.”
Jarosław Kaczyński spoke on Saturday in RMF FMthat the committee he chaired approved several months ago draft changes to the judiciary. As he assessed, “this anarchy that prevails in Polish courts today must be mastered”. – And it is necessary to liquidate those institutions that have failed completely, and the Disciplinary Chamber (of the Supreme Court – ed.) Has failed – he assessed. The deputy prime minister and PiS leader said that “all courts will have the status of district courts.” He stated that “there will be a transfer of the cassation appeal to the level of large regional courts”. – And we’ll have a Supreme Court. It will be a small court whose task will be to organize the jurisprudence – he added.
This announcement of changes in the judiciary was referred to in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24, MP Izabela Leszczyna (Civic Coalition) and non-party senator Jan Maria Jackowski (PiS club).
Leszczyna: if Kaczyński pushes for the reform he has announced, the chaos in the courts will only deepen
Jackowski was asked if he could guarantee that judges would not be politically verified in the event of any structural changes in the courts. – It is difficult for me to say, without drafts, what exactly will be in these reforms – he said. He noticed – based on the opinions of people coming from his senatorial office – that “the complaints of citizens about the length of court proceedings are growing again”.
According to Leszczyna, “if Kaczyński pushes for the reform he has announced, the chaos in the courts will only deepen.” – You will lead to such a situation that those people, dissatisfied with what you do in the courts, will have ten times more in your office – she said, addressing the PiS senator.
