Many observers of PiS activities pointed out that for Jarosław Kaczyński the party is everything, his world. So it was certainly not realistic that he would give up this party – said Aleksander Hall, an opposition activist in the Polish People’s Republic, in “Fakty po Faktach”, commenting on Kaczyński’s announcement to run for the party president in 2025. – It was a fantastic thing that we were “yes” when we were always “no” – said Małgorzata Niezabitowska, former spokesman for Tadeusz Mazowiecki’s government, referring to Kaczyński’s Saturday statement at the PiS convention. – We already know that it is just a wolf wearing sheep’s clothing – she added.

In an interview for the weekly “Sieci”, which will be published next Monday, the president of PiS Jarosław Kaczyński said that his party is today more united, stronger and better prepared to “continue the fight” than their opponents believe. He also admitted that it was a “difficult moment”. He stressed that his political camp “now needs unity, decisive leadership, and a quick move to the offensive.”

– That’s why I changed my political plans. I previously estimated that leading the party until 2025 would be enough. (…) Today I say clearly: I will submit my candidacy for the president of Law and Justice and ask for… choice for the next term. Of course, it is the delegates who will decide, and I will do everything to convince them to make this choice, he said.

Niezabitowska: it is important to look at what they are preparing behind your back

The guests of “Fakty po Faktach” commented on the decision of the PiS president. Małgorzata Niezabitowska, former spokesman for Tadeusz Mazowiecki’s government, former journalist of “Tygodnik Solidarność”, was asked whether Kaczyński, by not declaring he would run for the party president again, wanted to check who would want to take his place. – It is certainly very important in this case to look at what they are preparing behind your back – she replied.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski he spoke during Saturday’s PiS local government convention: – Poland needs to say “yes”. We should all say yes. – We must say “yes” to the investment, “yes” to the expansion of everything that has already been undertaken. “Yes” to various types of innovations, “yes” above all to development – continued Kaczyński.

– For me, the completely fantastic thing was the change that we were “yes” when we were always “no” with ten exclamation points. As for the narrative of PiS, and Kaczyński in particular, it has been an extremely aggressive and extremely negative narrative for a long time, commented Niezabitowska.

– We already know that it is just a wolf wearing sheep’s clothing – she said. – I believe that when the government starts to really succeed in fully implementing its program, people will start to leave PiS, especially if it continues to be a party that will pursue such a radical and aggressive position. So in this sense, I think that Kaczyński will not last long in this sheep’s clothing and that the wolf’s teeth will soon appear, she continued.

Hall: However, this will be a radical and irresponsible opposition

As Aleksander Hall, a habilitated doctor, said, “it was obvious to me that Jarosław Kaczyński would remain at the head of the party.” – This is a personality, a man who lives primarily in politics. And many observers of PiS activities pointed out that for him the party was everything, his world. So it was certainly not realistic that he would give up this party, he said.

– All the more so because it would cause differences of opinion and faction rivalry – added an opposition activist in the Polish People’s Republic and a minister in the government of Tadeusz Mazowiecki. – I think this is bad news. This is bad news for Poland, because Jarosław Kaczyński will not change his method of conducting politics, he will not change his personality and this will be the course, regardless of the fact that today the words about being “yes” were said, that it will be a radical opposition and irresponsible, said Hall. – This will be a continuation of the current course, and it was not a good course – he said.

Niezabitowska: there are great social expectations, which are understandable

Małgorzata Niezabitowska, former spokesman for Tadeusz Mazowiecki’s government, also commented on the first months of the government’s functioning Donald Tusk. – From the very beginning of this government’s existence and during its operation for these two and a half months, I have noticed such a similarity to the situation of our government. Of course, with all the differences, she said.

– We took power after 45 years of communism in a situation of a real, absolute economic disaster and the ruin of the country. Of course, the situation is much better now. Nevertheless, both governments faced an enormous number of tasks that had to be completed relatively quickly. In fact, in all fields, she continued.

– There are great social expectations, which are understandable. First, there is great hope and social expectations, but also some impatience and a desire for everything to happen as quickly as possible. And it results from this, then and now, that most people simply do not know and do not understand that when you take power in the government, you do not take absolute power, she added.

Hall: This change was necessary

As Aleksander Hall said, a change of power in Poland “was necessary.” – It was necessary because the rule of Law and Justice brought destruction to political structures, the rule of law, and spoiled Poland’s relations with partners and allies. However, for now we can say with certainty that a significant change has taken place in foreign and European policy, he said.

– The result of this change is the unblocking of funds from the KPO. In my opinion, it has started in a cautious manner, but I believe that it is a right process of rebuilding a law-abiding state. Minister (Justice – ed.) Adam Bodnar “He is acting prudently here and certainly within the law,” Hall continued.

– And the third issue is the change or removal of Law and Justice officers from public media. This operation was done in a different style. The beginning wasn’t the best in my opinion, but we are in the process of doing so, he added.
