European institutions – the European Commission and the European Parliament are demanding that the Prime Minister withdraw his motion from the Constitutional Tribunal on the primacy of Polish law; this is an extraordinary demand against the foundations of our sovereignty – wrote Jarosław Kaczyński, the president of PiS in a letter addressed to the president of the clubs of “Gazeta Polska”, Ryszard Kapuściński.
In a letter read by PiS deputy Joanna Lichocka at the congress of Gazeta Polska clubs, the PiS president referred to the question of the Prime Minister’s withdrawal of the question to the Constitutional Tribunal on the primacy of Polish law over European law.
Jarosław Kaczyński’s letter
“The peculiarity of today lies in the fact that European institutions, such as the Commission and Parliament, are asking the Prime Minister to withdraw from the Constitutional Tribunal his application regarding the superiority of Polish constitutional law over EU law,” wrote Kaczyński.
“This is an extraordinary demand against the foundations of our sovereignty, our constitutional order, and the Republic’s right to prosperity,” he added.
The deputy prime minister assessed that it was an element of “the total opposition’s struggle to overthrow the democratically elected government of the United Right” using the ‘street and abroad’ and a tool “in attempts to impose a new, revolutionary order on Europe.”
Jarosław Kaczyński: we must defend Poland
The PiS president referred to the ongoing debate on the future of the European Union, which is also reflected in conferences organized in individual Member States, and encouraged members of “GP” clubs to take part in it. In Poland, a conference on the vision of the future of Europe will be held next week. The deputy prime minister also referred to the declaration of several European political parties signed by PiS a few months ago. “We have started work on the preparation of an alternative to the mainstream reform plan of the European Union” – assured Kaczyński in the letter. He also thanked the clubs of “Gazeta Polska” for organizing the action “in defense of Poland’s right to self-determination”. “We have to defend Poland, we have to defend Europe, we have to defend the circle of Christian civilization, which is our spiritual home. May we succeed,” wrote Kaczyński in his letter.
